For its first collaboration with ASICS, atmos Indonesia begins “Archipelago” with pandan. Not one of Indonesia’s most obvious symbols, but something more humble, encountered across kitchens, desserts and everyday rituals. That familiarity finds its way onto the GEL-KAYANO™ 12.1, where pandan’s colour and character are reworked through the shoe’s vintage-tech silhouette.
Rather than translating pandan literally, “Archipelago” looks to the details that make it recognisable. Pandan green sits alongside warm neutrals, off-white and flashes of red, while silver overlays introduce a sharper, technical edge.
GEL-NIMBUS™ 17 tooling and modern cushioning keep the shoe grounded in ASICS’ performance language.
The same idea extends beyond the shoe. Culinary storytelling, sensory merchandise and immersive installations bring the concept into physical space, while a campaign film by Indonesian filmmaker Edwin considers identity, place and the ways the two continue to shape one another.
In a way, the collaboration is an exploration of the familiar. It takes something ordinary and deeply rooted in everyday life, and gives it another language without losing what made it recognisable in the first place.
A little piece of home, from Indonesia, with love.
