NIKE OVERBREAK MARS YARD

Revered in contemporary American art circles for his modern sculptures, Tom Sachs has an equal amount of clout in the world of footwear due to the Mars Yard colorway.

Born from the dynamic between Tom's D.I.Y. aesthetic and the wide reaching Nike brand, comes an artisanal capsule collection, NIKECraft. In 2012 Mars Yard began its legend with released the NikeCraft Mars Yard, a shoe inspired by Sachs’ interactions with NASA’s highly specialized scientists, and designed as high-performance equipment for the building in his SPACE PROGRAM: Mars exhibit, a built-space that simulated Mars landing. Just five years later, the NikeCraft Mars Yard shoe re-launch in 2.0 form with a material update informed by Sachs’ long-term trial of the original that revealed an unknown. the Mars Yard 2.0 shoe became a status symbol for those "in the know," but was nearly impossible to find in deadstock condition due to the limited release.
