Nike x Jacquemus and the Reawakening of an Original

Nike’s Moon Shoe has always lived in the hazy space between prototype and myth. In 1972, Bowerman cobbled a dozen pairs with rubber sheets cut in his garage, lacing them onto runners at the U.S. Olympic Trials. The Moon Shoe remained a relic, whispered about but never reissued, until now.

Jacquemus steps in. He edits it, trims it, re-cuts it until it feels like something else entirely. He takes Nike’s most sacred artifact and bends it toward his own world: stripped-back Parisian sensuality, somewhere between the rigor of sport and the fluidity of dance.

The Nike x Jacquemus Moon Shoe keeps the DNA: the low-to-the-ground ride, the raw utility of Bowerman’s waffle outsole. It dresses it in ruched nylon, almost crushable, a contradiction of delicacy and endurance.

A leather Swoosh glides across the upper, with tonal Jacquemus branding on tongue, heel, and sockliner. The EVA wedge tooling adds comfort but keeps the silhouette sharp, not bloated.

Even the box, a custom BRS design with a hidden “Blue Ribbon” detail, nods back to Nike’s earliest days.

The Moon Shoe has stepped out of the archive and into the present, carrying both the weight of history and the freedom of reinvention. Once Nike’s earliest experiment, it now moves through the language of contemporary fashion.
