The black-based upper features the stripes that are symbolic of the GT-2160, and the curves from the toe to the heel and the shoelaces are all equipped with reflectors, which are retroreflective materials.
In this special edition model, the TAPETUM (light plate), which is the structure of the retina of animals that reflects in the dark, is expressed with reflectors. The design was inspired by the light-reflecting structure at the back of the retina of the eyeball of nocturnal animals such as tigers and deep-sea fish. This is a masterpiece that combines the wild nature of animals that humans do not have with functional sneakers created by humans. The tiger camouflage pattern on the insole inherits the DNA that continues from the atmos ASICS SportStyle special edition archive.
In addition to the regular shoelaces, extra shoelaces with reflective thread woven in are also included.
The GT-2160, released in 2023, was developed following the functional design language of the GT-2000 series released in the early 2010s, and while retaining the iconic design language seen in heritage shoes, it also reproduces the main features of the time, such as the smooth beauty and wavy design of the forefoot.
